DOVE ELLIS

Sunday 13 Sep

When Geese picked him as the opening act for their US tour, we paid attention—and we’re glad we did. Dove Ellis is one of those rare neo-folk revelations that seem to emerge only from the British Isles, somewhere along the invisible line that stretches from Galway to Manchester, the spiritual home of so much great music.

His debut album is a constant series of discoveries, each song unfolding in unexpected ways, yet all held together by one extraordinary element: his voice. In falsetto, he recalls the fragile brilliance of Thom Yorke—or even Tim Buckley at times—before erupting into soaring, heart-wrenching crescendos that feel astonishingly mature for someone barely in his twenties.

Every delicate layer of Dove Ellis’ music is ready to reveal itself, one song at a time, on the Poplar stage.
