Hailing from England’s east coast, these five wonderfully bucolic souls embrace music with the kind of creative chaos that has made so many acts from the region stand out in recent years. 1000 Rabbits began as a folk band in the purest sense of the word, but they’ve never been content to stay within the genre’s familiar boundaries.

Their debut EP, Are We Friends Yet, captures the essence of those early years: the intricacy of their songwriting, the way layers of distortion gradually unfold as each track evolves, and, above all, an exceptional sense of rhythm, space, and restraint. River Fernandez’s voice often teeters on the edge of breaking, revealing a living, breathing heart beneath this dense sonic forest. On September 13, that heart will find its way to the Poplar audience for the very first time.
