At a time when everyone seems determined either to cause outrage or be outraged by the most forgettable things, Pippo Sowlo has chosen the perfect moment to return. Long before the pandemic, he was already releasing digital cult classics like Fregne mutilate and Scisrponi—songs that never needed lengthy explanations or think pieces to justify their existence.

His latest album is called Fine della NASPI, and the title says just about everything you need to know. It’s the evolution of an artist who built a world around internet absurdity before growing naturally from trap into pop, without ever abandoning his gift for slipping into the minds of the most gloriously questionable characters roaming the streets of Rome.
